Today major companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, and Google are linking arms to rally online in support of net neutrality. Currently, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is moving aggressively towards filtering internet content, selling your information and charging you for premium content. Ajit Pai is the current FCC chairman who was appointed by President Trump. His objective has been to remove open internet protections that had implemented during the Obama administration. Some of these protections included internet service providers (ISP's) such as Verizon, Comcast, Spectrum, and AT&T from throttling your internet speed and blocking web content.
Evan Greer, campaign director of Fight for the Future, one of the organizations behind the protests said in a statement on Tuesday: "The FCC needs to listen to the voices of real people who will be affected by this attack on net neutrality protections - not just lobbyists from telecom companies in pursuit of more power."
